Loyalty is a virtue we cherish. We’re overwhelmed with the kind of loyalty Toit has inspired in people and we’ve decided that it’s time to do some rewarding.
Presenting the Kudix Mug Holder of the Month. It’s our small way of recognising and thanking our patrons, who return week after week, with friends and family in tow, and make Toit the boozy, buzzing brewpub it is.
This month, we bring out the homely side of Kudix and feature our first ever family of Mug Holders.
Meet Viru, Silvana and Devikathe first family of Toit. And the reason we’re conferring this title upon them is because even though we’ve had other families visiting, this couple have been patrons even before they became parents. Seriously, they were at Toit two days before Devika made them the beautiful family they are now. We couldn’t think of a worthier first family!
How long have you been coming to Toit as a family?
Silvana: We’ve been coming from before we became a family. I was here even two days before I had my baby Devika.
Viru: I’ve been coming here from all the way back in 2010, and Silvana started coming here in 2011. We came here right up until we had Devika, and people used to poke Silvana’s tummy back then. And we’ve been coming ever since.

Have you always been beer lovers?
Viru: Yes. I like beer. I started off here with the Toit Tint-In-Wit but found that too mellow later on. I then graduated to the Toit Red Ale, which I kind of associate with coffee, in terms of flavour. I think more than the drinks, we’re into the food.
Silvana: I usually have the Lime Soda here. Or anything Cranberry based, like the Cranberry Soda.
Since you’re more into the food, what are your favourites?
Silvana: The Veggie attack and the Mushroom pie are great.
Viru: Yeah. I think their Pizzas are really nice. The Specials in particular.
Would you say that Toit is a family friendly place, especially for people with little babies like yours?
Viru: Absolutely! This is a great place for a family to spend time. The people here are very helpful, and it’s like we always have a ready set of babysitters when we come here. But we usually head out by 4 pm, because post that the crowd comes in. And then the music gets loud too. But we’d rather listen to good loud music than loud people. So that’s fine.
Absolutely! This is a great place for a family to spend time.
Also, this is the place my brother and I always catch up. He doesn’t live here, so whenever he’s in town, we spend a lot of time here catching up on what the other has been up to. This is his go-to place, and we won’t end up meeting unless I meet him here!
How does it feel being the first ever Mug Holder family?
Viru: It’s nice. But really, Devika is the one who makes us a family. Otherwise, we’re just like any other couple.
What do you think Devika is going to think, when she grows up and read this?
Silvana: That her parents were really cool!
