Running a brewpub isnele easy- its a lot of work, a lot of sweat and the occasional tears.
There are a lot of good, earnest people working behind the scenes, who put in a great deal of effort, round-the-clock, to ensure that everything you love about Toit stays that way.
And these people are none other than our never-tiring, ever-inspiring staff.
Our very own Toit Army- a battalion dedicated to the cause of good beer!
It’s time to meet the man who handles all the moneyUpendra, our Accountant.
He makes sure all the money is where it ought to be, and deals with all our imports!
Tell us a little bit about what you do.
My work is from ten to seven. Morning, I will reach here by ten and then I will check the sales, both cash and of credit cards. Then, I collect the cash from the cashiers. I will check whether it is matching the records, floor wise. We have three cashier sectionsground floor, first floor and second floor. I will crosscheck whether the cash is tallying with the statement. Then I also deposit the cash in the banks on a daily basis.
Main thing I deal with is sales. I need to verify the numbers as per the software we use.
I look after the imported products also. The documentation of the importing and foreign remittance. I deal with clearing agents also.

How long have you been a part of Toit?
I have been working since three and a half years. Since February 2011. About four months after opening, I came here. Before that I was working for a Chartered Accountant firm. I joined there six months before Toit, and from their side only I came here. I worked under them as a retainer for Toit, and after two years, I joined Toit and was on the company payroll. From 1st June 2013, I have been on the company roll.
In a place like Toit, there must be a lot of revenue to manage on a daily basis. Does it get hectic?
My job is not very hectic. Every Monday, I will face the work of the weekend also. Sometimes, because Saturday is a half day for banks, I will not be able to deposit the cash on the same day. So Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s cash, I will deposit on Monday. It takes time.
Do you work with a team?
I have an admin assistant. He will help me also. He does the management work, and goes to the bank and deposits the cash.
What would you say is the most challenging part of your job?
I have to do a lot of crosschecking. If some mistakes will happen, the General Manager will cross-verify. After that it will go to the Authorised Secretary, who will also check it. He signs the cheques, so if there are any mistakes, he will tell. Usually no mistakes, because everything is checked.
I have to do a lot of crosschecking.
Do you recall any memorable moments during your time here?
Lots of big incidents and small incidents happen. There is a very good management here so they advice us on how to handle different issues. We learn how to handle things, and do not repeat the same things again and again.
When youre not working, what do you do on your day off?
I have an off-day on Sunday. Normally, I spend the day with my family, and I go to temples also. I have a six year old daughter also, so we all go out. We usually go for Kannada and Telugu movies. I am from the Kolar district, which is the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh border, so I understand Telegu also. But normally, we watch television at home.

Have you tasted the food and beers here? Do you have any favourites?
I have not yet tasted the beer here. I am a vegetarian, so my favourite food is the Veggie Attack pizza.
How does it feel, working in a place like Toit?
The management is very supportive here. My previous job also the owner was supportive. But here it is even better. I can feel the difference from other companies I have worked for. Before the HR Manager was appointed in 2013, I used to look after the salaries of all the employees and related activities so I would interact with everyone. I enjoyed a lot. The team work is very good here.
While it is little more hectic than my previous job, there is a good working environment. I learnt so much. It’s a very good thing. It is a great place to work and I am really enjoying myself.
