Running a brewpub isnt easy- its a lot of work, a lot of sweat and the occasional tears.
There are a lot of good, earnest people working behind the scenes, who put in a great deal of effort, round-the-clock, to ensure that everything you love about Toit stays that way.
And these people are none other than our never-tiring, ever-inspiring staff.
Our very own Toit Army- a battalion dedicated to the cause of good beer!
It’s time to meet the man who deals with the only form of politics we have at ToitVinod, our Office Admin.
He makes sure our costs are all accounted for, and our licenses are in place. He pretty much ensures we stay open and running!
I handle all the administrative work.
Tell us a little bit about what you do.
I basically handle all cash related and Government related work. So I crosscheck cash expenses and accounts, and take care of licenses and excise related work. All the administrative work.Even things that involve keeping the office stocked up with stationery.
How long have you been a part of Toit?
From day one. I was working as an Artist Assistant before this. I liked that job but the company had to shut down. After that, I read something about Toit in the newspaper and then got the idea that I should just check it out.
So, you applied for an administrative post?
Actually, when I joined, it was as a steward. But later I realised that it was not the job for me. I dont know exactly why. Before I joined as a steward I thought I would love to serve people. But it was different from what I expected. I spoke to one of the Directors and asked him for some other work.
I work with the Directors as a group, and all the colleagues support me also.
Do you like this current position of Office Admin?
Yes, very much. My work time is from 10 am to 7 pm. Its the same everyday. I work with the Directors as a group, and all the colleagues support me also. I do not interact too much with the customers.
Do you work with a team?
My colleagues and the Directors support me. Especially the Directors here, they are very supporting. If I dont know something, they will teach me. Actually they are the ones who shaped me. Previously I didnt know anythingthey showed me the process, and sat with me and told me a lot of work things.
What would you say is the most challenging part of your job?
That is mainly the licensing. When people come for the renewal. The license will be expiring in a few days and people will delay it. So that needs to be managed.
Whats the best and worst thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is I can travel around Bangalore. I love to move around. In this job, I have to go to places for purchasing things, like go to the market, and also government offices, and those things I love.
There is no worst thing. I dont know. In my case, nothing is flashing in my mind. Mostly, I love my job. Seriously.
There is no worst thing… I love my job. Seriously.
Do you recall any memorable moments during your time here?
This a personal thing actually. I have one hero, my hero, Tamil actor Mr. Simbu (S.T.R), and it was my dream to meet him. I thought this is one thing I should do in my lifetime. One day, he came to Toit. I was not here, but my colleagues called me. I came from home and one of the Directors introduced me. I showed him my bike, where i had put his stickers. I also spent time with him. That is the thing I can never forget.
When youre not working, what do you do on your day off?
My day off is Sunday, so I will mostly go meet my friends. They will plan what to do every Sunday, and we do different-different things.
Have you tasted the food and beers here? Do you have any favourites?
Yes I have. My favourite foods, in the starters it is the Chicken Wings, and main course it is the Toit Special Pizza.
In the drinks, I like the Basmati Blonde. This month is my birthday month, and here we have a party to celebrate staff birthdays here. So thats when we cut the cake and taste the beers.
I feel very proud to work in a place like Toit. I feel very comfortable here.
You’ve been here from the very beginning. How does it feel, working in a place like Toit?
I feel very proud to work in a place like Toit. I feel very comfortable here. MY colleagues support me a lot. There are no egos here at all. We are like good friends here. My friends used to say that this is a very good place, and are proud that I work at Toit. It is a very good feeling. I just want to keep improving myself, the way I am doing my work. More perfection should happen. I want to thank the Directors for giving me such a good opportunity and all the knowledge.
